Jerry Brown, Managing Partner, founded BVA in 1991 after a successful career at IBM and Texas Instruments.  At TI, he was an officer and VP of the company’s Data Systems Group responsible for the systems, software and Systems Integration businesses.  Prior to TI, he was with IBM where he held management positions in engineering, sales and marketing including General Manager, Caribbean Area and Program Director for IBM’s first Interactive Multimedia project.  


Jerry has placed more than 200 CEO’s/VPs and Officers. He has helped form six funds with over $1 billion under management. He also consults on new Venture fund formation and fund restructuring. He has placed 20 General Partners and in 2015  placed Managing Directors at SRI Ventures and The SETI Institure.


Jerry was instrumental in the formation of numerous successful companies with IPOs such as ReSound, SCM Micro, ONI Systems, Virata, Aspect Development, Adflex Solutions, Superconductor Technologies, Synplicity, Accel Graphics, Network Peripherals, Bolder Technologies, Be, Kofax, Speedfam, Summit Systems, Cal Micro, CEVA, and Nuance. He was Founder and Board Member of Element Energy/Volterra (sold to Maxim in 2014.)

Jerry holds a BS in Engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and has completed coursework for an MS/CS at NYU.   He served on the Advisory Boards of AVI/MTV, Diamondhead Ventures and Horizon Ventures and was a Venture Partner at Rembrandt Ventures and Wavepoint Ventures. He is the Limited Partner in Brown Ventures LLC which has invested in and built the teams of over 50 venture backed companies yielding  over 20 liquidity events.

Dan Lankford, Software, Systems and Cleantech, is a managing director with Wavepoint Ventures, an early-stage information technology, and life sciences venture fund located in El Dorado Hills, California. His primary areas of expertise are communications, semiconductors, and energy technology. Dan has years of experience in the telecommunications equipment, software, semiconductor, and energy technology industries, at AT&T/Bell Labs/Agere Systems, and early-stage companies.

Dan is a former member of the Colorado Governor’s Commission on Science and Technology and former chairman of the American Electronics Association, Mountain States Chapter. He has a BS in Industrial Engineering (with honors) from Johns Hopkins University, and he received his MS in Management as a Sloan Fellow at Stanford Business School. He has also attended the Senior European Executive Program at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Randy Smith, Semiconductor, Intellectual Property (IP), Software, is the founder of Randysan Marketing, a consulting business focused on marketing, sales, business development, & interim executive management roles in support of several types of high-tech companies. Throughout Randy’s career, he has been known as an exceptional team builder, having built or rehabilitated numerous executive, sales, and marketing teams. Randy is now combining that expertise with the latest in recruiting techniques and SaaS tools to help companies achieve higher levels of team performance with greater recruiting efficiency. Randy has developed this expertise while holding several CEO, board member, executive management and advisory board roles at EDA and semiconductor IP companies. This has included public companies as well as several start-ups with successful exits.


Randy has been CEO of Tuscany Design Automation (acquired by Dassault Systèmes), Polyteda, and KM Core USA. Randy was a co-founder of Tangent Systems, Cadence Design Systems first acquisition in 1989. Randy was also an officer or consultant to several other companies with successful exits among them Artisan Components (ARM), Gambit Automated Design (Synopsys), Celestry Design Technologies (Cadence), AutoESL (Xilinx), and Jasper Design Automation (Cadence).

Jim Hogan, Software, is the General Manager of Vista Ventures Partners in Campbell, California. His experience includes time as a senior executive in electronic design automation, semiconductor intellectual property, semiconductor equipment, and fabrication companies.  Prior to Jim’s position at Vista Jim was a General Partner at Telos Venture Partners. Previously, Jim had worked in a number of operating roles at several Semiconductor and supplier companies.


Before Telos, Jim was Senior Vice President of Business Development of Artisan Components; Senior Vice President of Business Development and the senior member of the Office of Chief Technologist at Cadence Design Systems. Jim was a Cadence Executive Fellow and held several positions at Cadence including President of Cadence Japan, Corporate Vice President of Marketing, and Corporate Vice President for Field Operations. He was also Chief Operating Officer of Smart Machines, Inc., a semiconductor equipment automation company.

Jim also worked for National Semiconductor for 10 years and for Philips. At both companies, he established and managed device physics laboratories globally.


Jim holds a BA degree in mathematics, a BS degree in computer science and an MBA all from San Jose State University. He serves on the Board of Advisors at San Jose State’s School of Engineering, and on the board of directors for several early stage technology start-ups.

Mike has been dedicated to healthcare for more than 25 years as an operating executive, venture capital and private equity investor and consultant. He has founded two funds (Altos Health Management and MMC Health Services), served as a long-time general partner at Three Arch Partners, and led more than 30 investments. 


At Blue Shield of California, Mike had a variety of roles including Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategic Planning, Regional Chief Executive for Northern California, and Vice President of Business Transformation. 


Earlier in his career, Mike was a Senior Manager in consulting for APM Incorporated/CSC Healthcare and a Financial Analyst at Kidder, Peabody & Co. Incorporated. Mike received a BS in Business Administration with High Honors from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.

Omer Tadjer is the CEO and co-founder of Comeet, a collaborative recruiting company that provides innovative software that transforms the way companies hire new employees. Wade is a venture capitalist with a background in enterprise sales management and investment banking.


A strategic connector, Wade has been focused on advising on cross-border Sino-US technology partnerships. Seffi has been representing technology companies and investors in a wide range of corporate and commercial matters over more than fifteen years. Working closely with serial entrepreneurs and investors for many years, both at a large law firm and as in house counsel at a VC firm, Seffi has developed a unique perspective on strategic business matters that mixes a unique legal perspective, business considerations, and technology.
